Welcome to Les Hirondelles

‘Les Hirondelles’ is situated on the outskirts of the small village of Cuves, a farming community in the See Valley, Lower Normandy and only 2 hours from Cherbourg and approximately 1 hour from Caen. Set in attractive grounds, the property offers a pleasant situation for a relaxing holiday in the French countryside.

Unwind in the garden, relax by the pool or explore the many interesting and historic places nearby.  The D-Day Landing Beaches, Bayeux's Tapestry and Military Cemetery, Mont St Michel and St Malo are all within an easy drive.

Less well-known but equally interesting are the medieval towns of Domfront, Vire, Avranches, Dinan and Fougeres and nearby you will find  beaches, golf courses, rivers, parks, a Trout Farm where you can catch your own dinner and a Cider Farm where you can purchase the locally produced Calvados.

There are currently three gites, each with one large bedroom, and ideally suitable for couples or, rented together, for small groups of friends and family.  Each gite comprises a living room with corner kitchen and, on the first floor,  double bedroom with ensuite shower room.

The properties are well furnished with comfortable seating, dining table and chairs, small but well-equipped kitchen area with gas oven, microwave and fridge; tv and dvd player, woodburner, comfortable beds (twin or kingsize available), wardrobe and chest of drawers.  All gites are non-smoking.

Outside, each gite has its own garden furniture and use of a barbecue area.

You can also enjoy our 10m x 5m pool surrounded by a private sundeck and a poolside chalet containing a Communal Lounge area.

Badminton, darts, boules, board games and cards are  available for guests’ use.  DVD Library.

**Evening Meals

If you prefer not to cook but also not always to have to go to a Restaurant, enjoy a Table d'Hote dinner of local Norman produce such as Pork Encroute with Apricot Sauce, followed by Lemon Cheesecake or maybe a Tarte Tatin.  Or more familiar fare such as Dave's trademark Beef and Ale Pie.  Available twice a week by arrangement.  Prices to be confirmed but in the region of 22.50€ per person.

You will find Tea, Coffee, Sugar and fresh milk in your Gite on your arrival.

We endeavour to have a Barbecue Evening once a week during the summer – weather permitting.

The owners live on site.  Sorry, the property is not suitable for pets.
