« Frontières » (‘Borders’) Mémorial de Caen
The Berlin Wall, which fell during the night of 9th-10th November 1989, remains the symbol of the division of the world during the Cold War. This exhibition not only deals with this historical event but also considers current examples of borders around the world – the borders of Europe, the stakes of immigration around the world, closed borders (North Korea), territory disputes (Kashmir), changing borders (Israel and Palestine), the economic impact of borders (Mexico and the USA), landless peoples (Europe’s Romanies) and, finally, open borders (the exile of refugees).
