Les Hirondelles - Places to Visit 

Les Hirondelles is ideally situated to explore Normandy. The Landing Beachesof Utah, Omaha and Arromanches are approximately an hour’s drive away.  Bayeux, famous for its Tapestry but also for its beautifully-kept English War Cemetery is in the same area.The area’s most famous landmark, Mont St Michel, is just under an hour’s drive, on the border with Brittany.A little further on can be found the historic town of St Malo.

Within an hour’s drive inland are the pretty towns of Domfront, with its medieval walls, and the spa resort of Bagnolles de L’Orne.  Along the west coast, you encounter the beaches of St Jean Le Thomas with its lovely views of Mont St Michel, and the resort of Jullouville with its seasonal shops and bars. 

Continuing up the coast, you will come to Granville, a yachting resort but also famous for its native son, Christian Dior and a museum featuring his work is situated at his former home.

More locally, a new Museum at Avranches houses the Mont St Michel illuminated manuscripts, there is a Cider Farm to look around at Brecey, a Trout Farm between Brecey and Avranches and pretty villages dotted along the way.
